I Almost Quit

If you feel like giving up because you’re exhausted, discouraged, or overwhelmed, don’t make a permanent decision in a temporary season. The story of Elijah shows that even strong people can reach a point where they feel like they have nothing left. But God met Elijah in his exhaustion, restored his strength, corrected his isolation, and reminded him that his purpose was not finished. This sermon will help you understand how to keep going when you want to quit and trust God when you’re running on empty.

In this sermon, Pastor Travis teaches how God responded when Elijah wanted to quit—and what his story reveals about exhaustion, isolation, recovery, perseverance, and continuing in your calling.

In this sermon, you’ll learn:

  • Why you can feel like quitting right after a major victory

  • How exhaustion can make you question things God already settled

  • Why you shouldn’t make permanent decisions when you’re temporarily exhausted

  • How isolation can make giving up sound reasonable

  • What to do when you feel alone, discouraged, or spiritually drained

  • Why the thing you almost quit may be connected to someone else’s future

You may be tired, but tired doesn’t mean finished. The cave isn’t your identity, exhaustion doesn’t get to write your ending, and your worst moment doesn’t cancel your calling. What feels like the end may become the place where God restores you and gives you strength to get up again.
